5 Tips to Make Spring Cleaning Easier

April 13, 2018

When Spring comes into the picture, flowers are blooming and birds are chirping with the weather so sunny and breezy. This also means you have to do some Spring Cleaning to prepare your house for the bright, new season! We can help ease the chaos of it all with our 5 easy Spring cleaning tips!

TIP #1

Usually, when people think of Spring cleaning, they start with their closets. Out with the heavy, Winter clothes and in with the light, Spring clothes! Sometimes, women may get stuck in a rut when it comes to organizing their accessories. For women, don’t push off on buying something like a personalized jewelry box to have an easy place to store earrings, necklaces, and rings.

TIP #2

Men may have the same problem and want to organize things like their watches and sunglasses. Investing in a sleek, personalized watch and sunglasses box will be helpful. To have a place for miscellaneous items like keys and spare coins, place our stylishly personalized leatherette snap tray on your dresser. This way, even the smallest items in your room have a home!

TIP #3

It can be a hassle to clean up any fragile items like wine glasses and silverware. But did you know that simple home items can make them shine like new? Here are some simple cleaning “recipes” to give them a sparkle:

For glassware, here’s a recipe from Molly Maid:

  1. Warm the vinegar and place the wine glasses in the vinegar for one hour.
  2. Use the nylon net or plastic scrubber to remove the film.
  3. Thoroughly rinse wine glasses in hot water.
  4. Dry your wine glasses with a flour sack towel or other lint-free towel.

As for silverware, believe it or not, using a cloth and toothpaste can clean them up in no time! Simply polish them with some toothpaste and rinse off with warm water! If there are more persistent stains in your silverware, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub some toothpaste into the spot!

TIP #4

In order to detoxify and cleanse your home’s multiple surfaces, keep the harsh chemicals away and use this easy formula that uses lemons!:

  • 3 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of dish soap
  • Water
  • Regular spray bottle

Put the lemon juice and dish soap in the spray bottle. Fill the bottle to how much you desire with water. Spray on kitchen, bathroom, and house surfaces to cleanse and detoxify your home safely. Wipe away with a dampened cloth.

This will soothe any mother’s worries about harmful cleaning chemicals being used near the kids. This recipe will not only clean your home to welcome in the Spring, but it’ll also leave a joyful scent in every room!

TIP #5

If you have kids or you simply have board games lying around for game night, create a simple system to organize them so you won’t get a headache looking at a mess of cards and play pieces! A great way to have everything in order is through a cubby system. Stack all the puzzles and board games that are in boxes and have your child’s toys in plastic boxes that can sit in each cubby. As for loose play cards, organize and tuck them into index card containers and file and label them into the same boxes in the cubbies.

When it comes to Spring cleaning, it’s all about being thorough throughout your house to welcome in the new season with a fresh start. With our 5 spring cleaning tips, you’ll be doing your Spring cleaning by working smarter and not harder!

5 Tips on Giving a Wedding Toast

September 1, 2017

It’s that time of the year again—Wedding Season! Too often, we focus all our attention on the bride and groom, but we should also give credit where it’s due. A wedding could only go off without a hitch (pun intended) with the help of a best man and a maid of honor. Who else would organize the bachelor party for the groom or diet with the bride before her big day for moral support? Most of their duties go unnoticed by the wedding guests but unfortunately, the task that everyone is sure to notice is probably the most daunting of all—the wedding toast! One of the best ways to celebrate the happy couple is with the best man speech or maid of honor speech, and in preparation for the big day, we’ve put together a few tips so that you can master the dreaded wedding toast…

  1. Introduce Yourself.

This is a great way to start your toast because it allows the audience to get to know your relationship with the bride and/or groom. Take this opportunity to share special memories that you’ve created with the happy couple.

  1. Know Your Audience.

While we’re sure that you’ve seen the bride and groom in not only the best of times, but also the worst of times, it’s probably not a good idea to mention any memories that aren’t wedding friendly. Remember that the audience includes the other bridesmaids, groomsmen, children and the elderly so keep your speech G-rated.

  1. Be Yourself.

Even though the majority of the audience probably won’t know who you are, this isn’t the time to reinvent yourself. If you’re a sentimental person, make the speech touching. If you’re a jokester, keep the speech light hearted yet meaningful. Either way, being authentic will help you feel comfortable in front of a large crowd and will help you shine brightest.

  1. Wish The Happy Couple Well.

This is the part where you can express a sentiment that everyone in the room is feeling. After watching a beautiful ceremony, thank the couple for putting together such a lovely event and wish them well by raising your glass to the new newlyweds.

  1. Practice, Practice, Practice.

This is the final and arguably most important step to mastering your toast. Writing out your toast on paper and practicing it will familiarize yourself with your speech. It’s also a great way to time how long your speech will be; we recommend a three to five minute speech. This will ultimately make your delivery more natural and hearing yourself read your toast out loud will help you organize your thoughts.

With these five steps you will be sure to get a standing ovation for your toast on the big day. If nerves get to you during your speech, just remember to be yourself and end on a high note. Want to wish the bride and groom even more well wishes? Get them something personalized that will help them cherish the memory of this wonderful day for many years to come. Good luck!

How to Take the Perfect Instagram Every Time

April 1, 2017

Now we all love snapping photos for Instagram, but are you a pro? Whether it be a guilt free selfie, a beautiful sunset, or lunch, obtaining the perfect Instagram can sometimes be a little tricky. So we have gathered a list of top tips for taking that perfect Instagram.

  1. Do not use Instagram to take the photo!

Taking a photo on the Instagram app restricts you to the features that they offer.  Using your phone to snap photos increases the amount of options you have. You will most notably be able to use the grid feature (iPhone) and you will have the freedom to edit your photo on your favorite editing app.

  1. Enable the Grid Feature

If you have not enabled the grid feature on your phone you are missing out! To enable this feature on an iPhone go to Settings >Photos & Camera> Grid and tap on the slider. This will help you frame your pictures and you’ll be able to apply the rule of thirds.

  1. The Rule of Thirds

In order to achieve the perfect composition in your photos you can follow the rule of thirds. With the grid feature enabled on your phone, all you need to do is place the focus of your photo on one of the grid lines or intersections. This will produce photos that are more appealing to the eye.

  1. Lighting

The best kind of lighting to have for your photos is natural light. However, if there is a lack of natural light, artificial lighting will do just fine. While taking a photo on an iPhone, tapping on a certain part of the image will switch the focus to that area. If you tap on a darker part of the photo the image will become brighter and vice versa.

*Bonus Tip: Take pictures during the Golden Hour (Approximately one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset) for the best lighting.

  1. Background

If you would like to bring focus to a particular part of the photo, then one of the best things to do is to have a simple background. Staging the photo in a natural setting or a neutral toned area will bring out the focal point. In addition, adding dimension and texture will be aesthetically pleasing to the eye.  Remember, sometimes less is more!

  1. Edit

There are many apps out there that can be used to enhance your image. Some popular apps for photo editing and retouching include VSCO Cam, Facetune, and Camera+. If you haven’t found the perfect Instagram filter for your photos, apps like Faded allow you to create your own filter. Applying this filter to all your images will create an Instagram feed that is #goals.

Applying some or all of these techniques will enhance your photo taking skills to make sure that you get the perfect Instagram every single time.  So what happens when you love your photos so much that you want to look at them again and again? The answer is simple, use your beautiful photos to create personalized photo cases, t-shirts, and more!
